Bomb Blast in East Jakarta, Police Become Target

JAKARTA - Jakarta hit by two explosions, suspected bomb blasts struck an area near the Transjakarta bus stop in Kampung Melayu bus station, East Jakarta at around 9 pm on Wednesday (24/5) evening.
Deputy Chief of Police, Commissioner General Syarifuddin stated, if the bomb explosion occurred twice with a time difference of about five minutes, ie at 21:00 and 21:05 pm.
Syafruddin mentioned the number of bomb blasts at the Kampung Melayu bus station consisting of one suspected bombing and five police officers. The five police personnel during the explosion were securing torch relay activities.
"Civilian casualties are known while one person. Polri member who passed away is Brigadier Taufan. Four others were injured," said Syarifuddin.
Syarifuddin said if the terror of this bomb is intended for the police.
"Current global conditions do show if terror is often aimed to police," he said.
According to the observation, the alleged offender died on the spot, with the head, legs, and a separate body.
Total casualties up to now amount to 11 people, 5 members of the Police, 5 civilians injured and one perpetrator.
Two victims of the blast were rushed to Budi Asih Hospital, Jalan Dewi Sartika, East Jakarta.
The names of the victims until this news was revealed are:
1. Brigadier Taufan (died)
2. Bripda Ferry
3. Bripda Yogi
4. Agung (civilian)
5. Jihan (civilian)
