When Students All Over Indonesia Equipped with Film Education

JAKARTA - Twenty teams consisting of 57 students all over Indonesia whose work passed the initial selection following the documentary materials that held by Center for Film Development (Pusbangfilm) of the Ministry of Education and Culture in framework of 2017 Student Documentary Film Festival.
Taking the theme The Maritime, the event was opened by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Didik SuhardI and Head of Film Development Center Kemendikbud, Maman Wijaya in Jakarta, recently.
At the initial selection stage, the participants of the Documentary Film Festival Student sends work proposal to Pusbangfilm collected from mid-July to mid-August 2017. More than 100 proposals are submitted, although in the period of registration only one month, this signifies the interest of junior high school/senior high school in Indonesia on film activities, especially documentary film is quite high.
"The material given to the nominees is the deepening of documentaries, directing in documentaries, camera settings in documentaries, movie sound and film editing," said Barly, Director od Photography (DOP) 'Banda The Dark Forgotten Trail' who became one of the mentors of debriefing.
Film producer 'Toba Dreams', Rizaludin Kurniawan who also attended as a speaker of the event said very support Pusbangfilm in providing debriefing and mentoring students interested in the film world.
"In order to produce more student films in the future so that it can create a separate student film festival separated from Indonesian Film Appreciation (AFI) or Indonesian Film Festival (FFI) which has been routine," he said.
On the last day, presenters from Coordinating Ministry of Maritime by Kosmas Harefa, Assistant Deputy of Culture, Art and Sports Maritime added participants insights on Indonesian maritime. Because this activity is a form of inter-ministerial cooperation activities namely Ministry of Education, Coordinating Ministry of Maritime and Ministry of Tourism.
The 2017 Student Documentary Film Festival is a breakthrough that Pusbangfilm conducted in organizing a nationwide student film festival. Later, the determination of the three winners and awarding is done in the 2017 AFI event.
"Hopefully, next year Pusbangfilm can facilitate 200 students to participate in such briefing activities, so that more and more spread the ambassadors of Indonesian film creators all over Indonesia," said Dini Indrawati Simbolon as Head of Appreciation and Pusbangfilm Awards.
