AW 101 Procurement Allegedly Linked to War of Defense Industry

JAKARTA - Chaos of AgustaWestland (AW) 101 helicopters procurement allegedly linked to war of defense industry. Allegedly, there are who attempt to interfere with the procurement process of helicopter was made in England.

However, because of polemic the VVIP type procurement of AW101, had circulated the news if procurement of 8 units of AW 101 transport type will be canceled.
"I hold the correspondence and it was confirmed on 7 November 2016 signed by Minister of Defence. The eight were necessarily. There should not be like another happened yesterday, because of poor management systems, the main tool of defense systems sacrificed," she said.
Further said Connie, the emergence of polemics procurement AW 101 is also related to a statement issued by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (DI). According to her, PT DI lying to the public by stating that has been able to make their own transport helicopters.
"I think Airbus did not want us forward, our contract is inhibited," she said.
PT DI said Connie, has cooperated with Airbus to make the Super Puma VVIP helicopter and Cougar helicopters for the needs of Search and Rescue (SAR). President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) had said it would continue using Super Puma helicopters for VVIP Presidency.
In fact, according to Connie, Super Puma is now banned from flying in a number of countries as they often have a gear box problem. In addition, continued Connie, in the manufacturing of Super Puma, does not occur technology transfer from Airbus to PT DI.
"Therefore, PT DI to be open. If there was a better deal should be accepted. AW already submitted 12 letters to do cooperation, but not addressed. It's time PT DI to stop the 40 year unfavorable contract with Airbus," she said.
