JAKARTA - Indonesian music world mourns. Legendary musician Benny Panjaitan who also vocalist of Panbers died on Tuesday (24/10) afternoon.

The band initially filled by Hans Panjaitan on lead guitar, Doan Panjaitan on bass and keyboard, Asido Panjaitan on drums and Benny Panjaitan in vocals and rhythm guitar had become a young idol band at 70-80 era. Since 1990s Panbers filled by Maxi Pandelaki, Hans Noya and Hendri Lamiri.
Noted, Panbers has created more than 700 songs in hundreds of albums, whether genre, pop, rock, keroncong, or Melayu. Benny Panjaitan himself was born on September 14, 1948 in Tarutung, North Tapanuli, North Sumatra with the original name Porbenget Mimbar Mual Hamonangan Pandjaitan. Benny's childhood moved around with his father's assignment as a banker and eventually became one of the directors at BRI.
