JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) held a limited meeting with National Police Chief, General Tito Karnavian and KPK Chairman, Agus Rahardjo and Coordinating Minister Wiranto Polhukam who discussed the proposed establishment of the Special Detachment (Densus) of Corruption.
Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs, Wiranto said, in a limited meeting decided President Jokowi requested that the formation of Special Detachment of Corruption postponed.
According to Wiranto, the postponed was made because the proposal should be reviewed. Therefore, the establishment of this institution should be coordinated with the prosecutor's office.
"How about a one-stop investigation, investigation and prosecution, it would need a law," said Wiranto at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta on Tuesday (24/10).
Another thing to consider is the process of formation, in which Kemenpan RB assess the formation of Special Detachment of Corruption requires a long process. According to him, Menpan RB should accept the proposal first in the institutional structure and staffing.
Then, Wiranto said, the formation of the Detachment must have an agreement between two law enforcement agencies between police and the prosecutor's office to prepare the organizational structure before it is decided by the president.
Another consideration of which the formation of the Special Detachment of Corruption should be postponed is the budget. While the 2018 state budget will be passed through the plenary of the House of Representatives on Wednesday tomorrow, so the time to discuss the budget is considered very narrow.
"So it was decided that the formation of the Special Detachment of Corruption will be temporarily postponed for further investigation and it will be submitted to the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to explore further, so that later on we will have more explanation of the outcome," he concluded.
Meanwhile, related to this delay the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) followed the decision of President Jokowi.
"Yes it was decided so, we just follow," said Chairman of KPK, Agus Rahardjo at the Parliament Building, Jakarta, Tuesday (24/10).
He was reluctant to comment further about the delay in forming the Special Detachment of Corruption.
