JAKARTA - Agusta Westland (AW)101 helicopter procurement conforms to the Strategic Plan (Renstra) of the Air Force 2015-2019.

This is confirmed by Marshal Supriyanto Basuki, who is currently as Assistant of Planning (Asrena), Air Force Chief of Staff of the Indonesia Air Force.

Supriyanto claimed to have strong evidence of his legal procedures. In fact, he said, the House of Representatives and the government have approved the state budget that includes AW101 VVIP helicopters for the Air Force.

"After President Jokowi rejected the plan in December 2015 cause the cost is high, finally the Ministry of Finance (Menkeu) suspends the budget allocated for the procurement of the helicopter," said Supriyanto during discussion with SINDO Newspaper Editor in SINDO Building, Jakarta on Thursday (19/10) .

According to him, the blocking from the Finance Minister then reopened in June 2016 after the Air Force changed the purchase contract which initially bought Heli AW101 VVIP for the purpose of the President to become a transport plane.

"The procurement process is also no problem, all agree and continue," he said.

Supriyanto denied if the purchase of helicopters is overpriced and allegedly there is a mark up. Allegations of mark up value of Rp220 billion, he said, not based on facts.

According to him, the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) has not yet audited the purchase of the aircraft.

"The allegations of corruption means that there is a loss of the state," he said.

For your information, Supriyanto is the fifth person appointed by the TNI Puspom suspect. Previously, Puspom had assigned four others to Colonel FTS as Head of Air Force Procurement Service Unit, Marshal FA as the official of commitment, Lieutenant Colonel WW as the cash holder and Second Lieutenant SS. Meanwhile, from the private sector, President Director of PT Diratama Jaya Mandiri, Irfan Kurnia Saleh. Irfan was named the suspect for alleged commitments with Agusta Westland and inflated the helicopter price.
