BANTEN - The most awaited event at Pesona Tanjung Lesung Festival 2017, the Rhino X Triathlon held at the Beach Club Tanjung Lesung, Pandeglang, Banten.
As cross triathlon race, The Rhino X Triathlon consist three-pronged race: swimming, mountain biking, and running. This race are different from other triathlon races because it takes quite difficult terrain, especially in mountain bike numbers. Participants must raise their bikes in uneven terrains with sand and gravel so it is quite slippery. In addition there are many climbs and steep derivatives that demand the prudence and strategy of the triathlete.
The competition which attended by several foreign triathletes started at 7 am this morning, opened by Head of Tourism Division of Banten Province, Eneng Nurcahyati and Managing Director of PT BWJ, Rully Lasahido.
Competition which followed by more than 70 athletes is exciting, where there is quite a tight competition in the inter-triathlete.
In the Bull class, Fauzi Fannyla first position was achieved from Bukit Tinggi, West Sumatra. The athlete is still 16 years old and attends high school development in Bukit Tinggi class XI. This achievement is more remarkable especially since Fauzi said his preparation for MTB race only for one month.
Earlier in July, Fauzi Fannyla successfully occupied the 2nd position of the Short Distance Pro class. Fauzi completed the swim race in 2nd position, but managed to take over the first position in the 3rd kilometer bike race. At the end of the race, Fauzi has a record time of one hour, three minutes and seven ethics.
"The challenge is felt in the race and the waist feels a little sick after cycling," said Fauzi about challenge in this race.
In this Bull class, accompanying Fauzi Fannyla in the 2nd and 3rd positions are Rohman's Day (one hour, five minutes and 34 seconds), and Febram Yulkhairil (one hour, five minutes and 43 seconds).
Dutch athlete, Wouter van der Kolk admitted this was the first triathlon race. Wouter is the first foreign finisher to occupy the 5th position.
"I like to run," he said when asked why he followed the event.
He was joined by several other foreign participants, namely Remi Feder from France, Bjorn Dudok van Heel from the Netherlands and Chris Sendjaja from Iran.
In the Men's Open category Rhino class, the first finisher is Muhammad Taufik with a record time with one hour, 50 minutes and 24 seconds. In the 2nd place there is Ady Akhmad Jukardi with one hour 51 minutes and 47 seconds, while the 3rd position is occupied by Maarten Vrouenraets who is a Dutch citizen. The time records are one hour, 57 minutes and 43 seconds.
M. Taufik's struggle to get first position is not easy. Taufik fell from his bike at kilometer 2.
"From 7 to 8 kilometers there is trouble but not falling. At kilometer 8, where I fell heavily, until three times rolling," said Taufik who crossed the finish line with injuries in some parts of his body.
In Team Relay class, first place winner occupies Oktavianus Quaasalmy (Swimming-bike), and Jumardi (Run) with a record time of one hour, 57 minutes and 19 seconds.
"From the odds of winning, from the count, we are at number 4 if I join the individual. This is also the experience of following the triathlon for both of them. It's certainly more exciting. In the pool; harder for me because that's where my weakness is. On the bike, there are many turns broken, so must be clever to play brakes," explains Octavian.
In the Bull Men Master (40+) class, Reza Soemadipradja won the race with one hour, 22 minutes and 40 seconds. In the 2nd and 3rd place there is Lie Senjaya Honggo Linando (one hour, 22 minutes and 54 seconds) and Jarnel Sutopo (one hour, 23 minutes and 11 seconds).
For the Masters Men class (40+), the first position is occupied by David Ouvrard with two hours, five minutes and 17 seconds. While the 2nd and 3rd position is occupied by Timo Franciscus (two hours, 22 minutes and 18 seconds) and French Christian Chevalier with two hours, 24 minutes and eight seconds.
At Bull Women Open, Natalia Djuantoro took first place with two hours, 20 minutes and one second. On the podium, Natalia was accompanied by Ingrid Gloria who arrived 12 minutes later.
