YOI Ask Professional Athlete's Role Handled Properly

DEPOK - Life of many former athletes still far from worthy. This is reflected in the life of Abdul Rozak, former Taekwondo athlete which had gold medalist at 1986 Asian Games in Seoul, South Korea.

In his youth, this Papuan man spent all his time and energy to bring name of the Indonesian nation. But after retirement, life of him far from the prosperous. He just as Taekwondo coach around his house, but should had to pay his wife and three children.

This is fact make Indonesian Athlete Foundation (YOI), chaired by former badminton athlete Rudi Hartono doing social activities for the former athlete which had fragrances Indonesia name. Together with singer Reza Artamevia, Daily Chairman of YOI, Bambang Asmarabudi visited Rozak's house in Depok, West Java, Monday (11/9) to provide assistance.

"Hopefully the government will be knock, professional athlete's role to be handled properly. Insha Allah the new seeds be serious in the world of sports and will not hesitate," said Reza.

Added Reza, it is very difficult for Rozak to support his wife and three children after retiring to an athlete. His daily income is not sufficient for his household needs.

"Mr. Rozak's current situation is less than prosperous, and everyday he only relies on his job as Taekwondo coach in his neighborhood," Reza said.

Bambang Asmarabudi added, it is proper that athletes who are achievers are respected and cared for.

"Who can raise the Red and White flag in a country other than the head of state, there is athlete. Please keep the spirit there and all stirred. I know also the former athlete is not pitied but appreciated. YOI lobby the government, certain achievements can be appreciated like pensions and others," said Bambang.
