Foreign Language Title Will be More Profitable?

PADANG - The majority of Indonesian films that tend to use foreign language titles with a reason to attract viewers reap the harsh criticism.
"41 percent of Indonesian films in this year's titles are in English, while the dialogue is in Indonesian," said Head of Language Agency of the Ministry of Education and Culture, Dadang Sunendar in Padang, Thursday (24/8).
According to him, this is a serious matter, because if the Indonesian nation itself is not proud of its own language, long time Indonesia will prefer other languages.
"We have invited film entrepreneurs, NGOs and others to discuss this and they promised to convey to film directors and activists," said Dadang who spoke at the International Seminar on Linguistics with the theme of Language and Social Change was held Master Program of Liguistik, Faculty of Cultural Science Andalas University.

"I am a movie lover, like Indonesian movie, but the title is not English. And from the research result, if the title of the film is in Indonesian language, number of audience and profits still good," he said.
Lately a number of national films that many use the English as the title, including Warkop DKI Reborn, The Real Parakang: Bloody Heritage, Underdogs, Mars Met Venus, Banda The Dark Forgetten Trail, The Doll 2.
Then Sweet 20, Critical Eleven, Satria Heroes: Revenge of The Dark, The Guys, Night Bus, Danur I Can See Ghost, Perfect Dream, Dear Nathan, Mooncake Story, Trinity The Nekad Traveler, London Love Story 2, Remember The Flavor, The Chocolate Chance, The Promise, The Last Barongsai and From London to Bali.
