JAKARTA - Genre of comedy movie with educational message titled 'Stip dan Pencil' trying to get one prove for MD Pictures as production house, so what that proof?
MD Pictures want to make they are not only able to reach the box office from drama genre films. Not only that, this film was trying to take alternative places in competition with other national films, 'Kartini' and Hollywood movies 'Fast and Furious 8'.
Film who starring by Ernest Prakasa, try to show theme the importance of education which often forgotten than matter. In the scenes depicted that children in slums who have to work for the family, prefer to work on the streets rather than having to study in school.
"That's the reality, even in the middle of the capital. We're shooting in the slums of Pluit and behind the KPK building," said Arie Kriting, one of the 'Stip dan Pensil' players after premiere in Jakarta on Tuesday (18/4).
Related to 'battle' with 'Kartini', MD Pictures feel no need to worry. History of women emancipation heroes RA Kartini is believed to be even profitable for the 'Stip dan Pensil'.
"The holiday coupled with the competition factor, it is a winning combination for our film. We are not afraid to compete with 'Kartini'," said Manoj Punjabi, CEO of MD Pictures.
He continued, movies with large-scale promotions like 'Kartini' invite people in large numbers to the cinema, especially on holidays. From here then the movie scale that play in the same theater can be audience. Either from the audience who missed the tickets, changed their minds, or other reasons.
"We have 120 screens quota, but if the product is good and accepted, we are optimistic that it can be big audience, my focus is on promotion," Manoj said.
