Bali, NTB and Banyuwangi Shake by 6.4 Magnitude Earthquake

DENPASAR - National Weather Service (BMKG) has reported the occurrence of earthquakes with a force of 6.4 magnitude with its epicenter in the sea at a depth of 117 km at 23 km east of Denpasar or 33 km East Badung, Bali province on Wednesday (22/3) at 06:10 am.
The quake was not a potential tsunami. BNPB post has confirmed the impact of the earthquake to BPBDs Bali. The impact of the earthquake described by forum level shocks (shake map) shows that areas like Kuta in southern Bali, Tabanan, Mataram turbulence intensity scale SIG-BMKG II or III-IV MMI. then Banyuwangi, Taliwang, Karangkates, Sawahan, and Bima scale of intensity I SIG-BMKG (II MMI). The shock of this earthquake was reported felt by almost everyone in the province of Bali.
"In the city of Denpasar community felt strong shaking for 5 seconds. Society rushed out of the house and the room. Glass windows shook, the car shook and some children cry. Earthquake shocks felt twice with both harder," said Head of Data Information and Public Relations BNPB, Sutopo Purwo Nugroho today.
Community in Badung, Tabanan, Klungkung, Gianyar, Karangasem, Singaraja, Bangli and Buleleng felt the earthquake shocks. There has been no report of casualties and property damage due to the earthquake. BPBDs still monitoring the impact of the earthquake.
BMKG said earthquake source from Australia meeting of the Indian plate and the Eurasian Plate. This earthquake was included in the classification of medium earthquakes in the Benioff zone, the strip of tectonic plates which already began to nosedive. BMKG reported a magnitude 3.9 aftershock.
