KRI Layang 635 Lost Contact at Talaud

TALAUD - After several days lost contact, Indonesian Navy (AL) asked public to await the development of search KRI Layang 635, a class of fast patrol missile warship in the waters of Talaud, North Sulawesi.

"The waves are high. I'm still waiting for a reference, then surely I convey certainty. Please be patient," he said.
Head of the Information Office Eastern Region Fleet Command, Lieutenant Colonel Marine Maman Sulaeman, KRI Layang lost contact while escorting a Philippine fishing vessel flagged. Philippine ship named Nurhana, which brought 24 foreign nationals were arrested previously because it violates the limits of territorial waters of Indonesia.
After the arrest which took place on December 13, 2016, KRI Layang consisting of four Navy personnel assigned to guard the base Nurhana Melonguane in North Sulawesi. The team should arrive on December 15.
"KRI Layang team headed by Lieutenant Faisal Dwi R. Andarta include two long-barreled rifles, four magazines and 60 rounds of ammunition sharply," Maman said in a statement on Wednesday (21/12).
Guard Teams that are in KIA Nurhana with three Filipino crew, said Maman, was ordered to report the situation to the KRI Layang 635 every three hours.
"Guard Team also equipped foodstuffs for 4-5 days," he said.
Until 03.00 CET on Wednesday morning, December 14, they still give a report.
"However, at 06.00 CET, KRI Layang 635 lost contact Guard Teams that are in KIA Nurhana," he continued.
Maman said, sweeping Talaud waters to seek Guard Team KRI Layang is still ongoing, although occasionally experience a change of location due to bad weather conditions.
"KRI Layang 635 on December 16 also coordinates with Sea Combat Force Koarmatim (Guspurlatim) moving the P-850 aircraft to search from the air, and KRI Ahmad Yani 351 to support the search and refueling," he explained.
