NEW YORK - As if owning a superyacht wasn't luxurious enough, now designers have come up with a concept for a superyacht with a detachable beach house.

The concept is the work of Feadship - the Dutch company behind Steve Jobs' custom-built superyacht.

As well as a beach house, the 244ft-long vessel, comes with a two-person drone and two 80-foot tenders.

The yacht can accomodate four guests in two double suites and four guests in two twin suites, with room for sixteen crew in eight double cabins, four crew in four single cabins and two in the captain's cabin.

Named 'Choice', it has been unveiled to to mark the tenth anniversary of its 'Future Concept' designs. Feadship has been crafting custom superyachts since the 1920s.

Described by the company as the 'most audacious blueprint to date', the Choice superyacht designs show jacuzzis, a beach club and pool, a two-person drone - in a vessel that may almost sail itself.

The design was unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show using a yacht model and an augmented reality experience.

The Choice's Feadship Independent Control System (FICS), uses sensor technology and wave radar, weather forecasting, and traffic information to provide nearly autonomous sailing.

Intelligent control processes deploy this data to determine how the yacht should best respond.

This includes everything from defining the most suitable route to sail to advice on using the beach club and pool, and notifying when it is safe to take off with the drone.

"As well as the wealth of choices Feadship clients have before and during the building process, our aim with this new concept is to give even more options once they are on board," said Feadship senior designer, Ruud Bakker.

"We haven't quite reached the autopilot stage yet, but the way this solution communicates with the environment is optimised to the highest degree," added Bakker.

This includes everything from defining the most suitable route to sail, optimising comfort at anchor, finding the best location to detach the tenders, to advice on using the beach club and pool, and notifying when it is safe to take off with the drone

The primary propulsion sources are located in the 80-foot (24.5-metre) tenders either side of the yacht. The yacht also has its own electric propulsion package, charged by the tenders while docked.

Each tender can operate as an independent mini-yacht, that can reach speeds of 29 mph.

"These mini-Feadships can cross a distance in the same time as a fast Feadship but access places which large vessels cannot reach," said senior designer, Tanno Weeda.

Even though it is almost autonomous, the yacht will not sail itself.

"We haven't quite reached the autopilot stage yet, but the way this solution communicates with the environment is optimised to the highest degree," said Bakker.

"Freedom Won and Freedom Too both have a top speed of 25 knots and are stable enough for rough seas. They also offer exceptional comfort, including two double suites, a single cabin and a lounge," he added.

The yacht can accomodate four guests in two double suites and four guests in two twin suites, with room for sixteen crew in eight double cabins, four crew in four single cabins and two in the captain's cabin. The beach house can sleep two guests in a double room while two can fit in the drone, along with a pilot.

In addition to the Apple founder, the company has built dozens of vessels for some of the wealthiest and most famous captains of industry. Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen bought a 200-foot yacht called the Méduse from the shipbuilders in 1996.
