MAKASSAR - National Police Chief (Kapolri), General Badrodin Haiti, challenged the most wanted man, Santoso, who threatened to detonated a bomb at Polda Metro Jaya to go ahead with his plan. The threat was posted on video through social media.
"Go ahead if you want to blow everything up and we've already anticipated it, just come," said Badrodin, who was in Makassar, Tuesday (24/11/2015).
Through the video, Santoso aka Abu Warda who is claimed to be Jamaah Indonesia Timur leader threatened to blow up Polda Metro Jaya dan Istana Merdeka. The 9 minutes and 34 seconds video has been circulating through the social media.
The video was titled Seruan Sang Komandan, Abu Wardah Asy-Syarqi (The Commander's Call, Abu Wardah Asy-Syarqi). An ISIS flag and a man who was suspected to be the commander of the Mujahedeen group Santoso aka Abu Wardah was also seen on the video.
"Right now, our personels already pursue him. Let's hope that Santoso and his network will be found as soon as possible," said Badrodin.
Badrodin also said that the Government already held an operation called Operasi Camar Maleo (Camar Maleo Operation) to hunt down Santoso. But it is still fruitless. He also asked the public not to be affected by the video.
On the other side, Badrodin has been coordinating with all the Kapolda or Provincial Police Chiefs in Indonesia untuk increase the early detection to prevent terror act. Previously, Badan Nasional Penanggulangan Terorisme (BNPT/National Agency for Combating Terrorism) asked Communication and Information Technology Ministry to block the video on the social media.
BNPT also has been coordinating with Subdirektoral Cyber Crime Bareskrim Mabes Polri (National Police's Cyber Crime Division) to follow up the video.
